Looks like Santa Maria got 0.20" so far, which means they have just over 2 in a half hours to get 2.84" and reach the forecasted total of 3.04".

The 3 inch forecast was mostly during the 1am to 7 am monday time frame

Picked 1.95" from storm #2. WU prediction of 3+ inches was too crazy . Still a very good storm. Overall storm total from #1 and #2 is 2.33".

Absolutely agree. Warmer air over a not as warm ocean surface means more depth to the marine layer. It's the important weather phenom that needs a lot of study. The ocean may want to evaporate water to the atmosphere but if the water vapor is trapped within a ML,  it can't be good for rainfall on the continents.

Portland has had less rain in February than we have had here and they still post a lot more in PNW thread. Jesse should be extremely worried about the drought in the PNW.
