Weather has been pretty nice since June 16 here after weeks of highly anomalous cutoff lows centered directly over So Cal. We got into a more typical troughing pattern centered over Nor Cal and the PNW. Still looking forward to some heat this weekend.

It has been a lot sunnier here in Orange over the past few days than it was for much of May and the first half of June. Despite the warmer days, the nights have still been very cool, but that will probably change somewhat as warmer weather arrives later this week.

After today, Downtown LA has an average high of 72.63 F for June. To tie the coolest June on record of 71.10 F in 1965, the average high for the last 3 days of June would need to be 57.33 F, which will not happen unless Catalina gets nuked. 

Still looks to be in the top 10 coolest, however.

Somehow the high for Downtown LA yesterday was bumped up from 74 F to 76 F.

Downtown LA has had a cool June for sure, but it won't be the coldest for average high unless the high temperature fails to reach 18 F tomorrow.

This weekend is looking super nice! Just a shallow marine layer that should quickly burn off early in the morning. Highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Kinda amazing that highs in the mid-90s this weekend warrant a heat advisory here in the IE. Shows how much different it is from last summer when every day was in the mid-90s.

Very dense fog this morning and under a dense fog advisory. Haven’t seen fog in so many weeks as the marine layer has been anomalously very deep for many weeks.

High today was 73F, a few degrees cooler than forecasted, but still a marvelous day!

The results are in. Downtown LA was only 77 F today, which means no 80 F for June 2023.
