We have been emptying out all of our storage areas and I told my wife the snowblower can stay with the house. I also jokingly said we could leave the cat since our yard is the only thing he has ever known in his life and we will probably lose him in a new place. But we can't leave him behind.

Try? Its a mutual thing. We get together at least once a week with the kids for some activity or they just come home for dinner. Many kids in their 20s still live with their parents... we don't have that issue. And we certainly want to live in the general area when my son and his fiancée start having kids of their own soon. We aren't looking to move across the country to a place where we know nobody right now. The only other place we would move to permanently would be Minnesota where we have so much family. But our kids are settled here so that probably won't happen.
