Anti Marine Layer
The gloom goes out thousands of miles again. Crashing Through the Snow premieres Saturday on Hallmark channel.
Pn1ct0g3n
Ooofff that’s thick, despite the monsoonal moisture in the vicinity. Happy birthday America.
Anti Marine Layer
Monterey Bay Area is nicely socked in again, for those who don't like the heat.
Pn1ct0g3n
Sun is out here. Will it stay out is the question.
Thunder98
It's only 57F and socked in with marine layer clouds at 10:30AM. Sigh.... 1

Reg
I’m in Los Angeles today, in Gardena visiting family - fireworks and occasionally weapons have been popping off nearby all day over here. Some of them sound reminiscent of the distant mortars I’d hear at Fort Benning.
Anti Marine Layer
Looks like most beaches have finally cleared out.
Pn1ct0g3n
Very strong onshore flow today, making it downright gusty at the coast and bringing even valley temps down about 5F compared to yesterday. Manhattan Beach hasn’t exceeded the low 70s since mid June, at least according to my weather app. Their station is at American Martyrs School, which is just yards from the Pacific and in a consistently distinct microclimate from the side of the city east of Sepulveda Boulevard. Thunder98
High of 71F today. Yawn, wish it would be 20 degrees warmer and with dews in the 70's.
Pn1ct0g3n
We still have plenty of time for things to turn around. Hard to get 2015 2.0 without an El Niño though.
Pn1ct0g3n
Not looking good for fireworks here. Overcast again and possibly breezy enough to present a hazard. Looks like another upper level low passed through NorCal.

So that explains why the Marine Layer has been so stubborn to clear out in recent days.
Anti Marine Layer
LAX already is down to 62.
Pn1ct0g3n
Chilliest Fourth of July evening in quite a while. Jacket required for the fireworks if you’re anywhere near the coast. Even 2020 started out pretty nice in July before it all went downhill. Extended forecast calls for dead-average temps with nothing out of the ordinary. California’s warm season can be like living in a Groundhog Day loop.
Reg
Back at home this evening and I've never heard or seen even half this many illegal fireworks on any 4th of July in my life here. Car alarms are all constantly being set off by the bangs.
Pn1ct0g3n
I’d assume people are celebrating harder because there’s no more lockdown. Some moron ignited a palm tree near me. Sirens now punctuating the chorus of bangs and whistles. 1

Pn1ct0g3n
No-sky July. Fortunately weak eddies keep forming and each one brings us a little closer to the end of this pattern: 1
Thunder98
Of course the Santa Maria area will be the last to clear. Some sort of reverse clearing again today.
Pn1ct0g3n
Yesterday most of the coast was clear by 2pm, EXCEPT the southern half of the Santa Monica Bay. Where I live.

Pn1ct0g3n
Wow! Those dews are crazy high for anywhere in California. 73 or so was the highest I remember seeing locally during the sticky summers like 2006 and 2015.
Pn1ct0g3n
When will Manhattan Beach’s next 77+ high be? Will we ever reach 80 before Santa Ana wind season? Place your bets.

Pn1ct0g3n
All microclimates except the desert running near or a little below normal. Dews have stayed below 60. Feels more like summers did here before climate change. The monsoon remains active but it doesn’t look like it’ll drift our way for a while. Slower clearing today too. The wind picked up as early as 9am, an unfavorable sign for things to clear all the way to the beach. I’d bet East of Sepulveda should enjoy brilliant sunshine. Pn1ct0g3n
Central CA heat wave should shift and begin to affect us late week. Will the beaches even notice? We shall see.

If it’s even above average in MB, it’ll be cause for celebration. We’re such an exposed piece of coast, and the western tip of Catalina has a way of channeling the clouds toward us.
