It hasn't even been three full days since this thread started and personal insults are already flying, reports are already coming in. Similar to the abortion issue, this is a passionate topic that can get very ugly very quickly.

Simplicity is seductive. People want to distill any conflict into a simplistic “good guy” versus “bad guy” narrative.

Pair that with how the world is complex, and you have a recipe for opposing sides, each certain they are in the right, each backed up in their certainty by a subset of irrefutable facts.

I've heard a couple times it was 'up to' 80% support Hamas, but can't remember where I saw it. Either way, I support regular innocent Palestinian civilians who don't support terrorists and I also support Israel even though many are diehard liberals. I occasionally donate to missions stationed in the Middle East helping civilians and poor people in Palestine, Syria, etc. Actually, there are outreaches worldwide including the USA.
