Crazy dynamics this morning 36* earlier drizzle/mist , light rain and then skies lighten up a bit temp goes to 37* and we get light flurries along with some very fluffy cotton ball flakes ( Hallmark feel) .

Big fluffy flakes coming down here in the swamp. Not sticking at all, currently 36 degrees and warming. But at least it's pretty.

It’s just always seemed like an oversimplified scapegoat if things don’t go our way when it comes to maritime influenced patterns, warm or cold season. The outputs from this last trough seemed pretty logical when you look at the upper level pattern and profiles, at least to my novice eye. Snowfall at the lowest levels was mostly dependent on upper level dynamics which helped drag the snow level to the surface as at any one given time profiles weren’t cold enough to support a static column at or below 0c. Ironically, some of the most dynamic stuff took place Monday night/Tuesday morning at the coast as seems to often happen when the cold upper level pattern is first taking hold. Resulted in at least some accumulations right down to the beaches. On the other hand, I’m sure warm SST’s on a global scale are entirely relevant to the much bigger picture but that’s Phil-brain fodder.
