Guest happ
NWS_LA is forecasting 69° for Pasadena on Sat/ Sun. Cool but certainly not unheard of in May. With deeper troughing later next week, we could score several days in the 60's and lots of stratus. L:

Anti Marine Layer
Nice amount of drizzle this morning. No drizzle here, just the usual May Gray with the steady eddy south wind making the temperature feel cooler than it is. Drizzle will not help the drought. Anti Marine Layer
100 degrees should be out of reach for Palm Springs for a while.
Anti Marine Layer
Upper low is so cold that Salt Lake City is forecasted to have their temperatures drop throughout the day. They had record highs a few days ago, but remember spring is roller coaster weather season. https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/getobext.php?wfo=slc&sid=KSLC&num=72&raw=

Anti Marine Layer
Light rain since sunset. Palm Springs was well below their forecast high temperature today with the marine layer clouds visible hanging over the mountains from the www.desertweather.com webcams. Anti Marine Layer
Looks like more record low highs today in the climate where it's 90 in December with fires burning down half the state and freezing cold in May and June with nothing but some drizzle to ease the drought for next fall's heat waves and fires. Anti Marine Layer
Strange pattern for sure. 7000 ft deep marine layer over Southern California, strong offshore flow last night over San Francisco Bay Area, and low clouds which got into Paso Robles from the southwest this morning instead of the usual passage from the Monterey Bay, and a ridge building over PNW for some record heat. Climate change, yes. Global warming, not so sure about that.
Guest happ
MOS guidance was way off yesterday so today may also be cooler than forecast. Overcast skies with drizzle again this morning.
Anti Marine Layer
Fullerton Airport would need to average 66 F for the high for the rest of the month for the average high to tie that of our coldest month so far, which was March. Not very likely, but I'm telling you there's a chance.

San Rafael Hills is just under 2000' in the deep coastal clouds. Inland locations are the coldest in deep marine layer events, especially when the eddy is supplying the marine layer with PEDs. Eddy winds are not quite as strong today, but temperatures are not any warmer. Last few years it seems May Gray has been more prominent than June Gloom. Anti Marine Layer
We really need to get these persistent trough patterns between late fall and early spring when we could actually get some beneficial rain from them.
