Pn1ct0g3n
Generally right around the autumnal equinox or so is when Santa Ana events start to appear, but it varies.

Pn1ct0g3n
They’re starting to creep in from the south here. Eddy continues to swirl. On the bright side this eddy should be ticking up our SSTs, but the map is stuck on 9/5.
Pn1ct0g3n
Not as hot. Eddy is keeping the heat in check; near average for September.

Pn1ct0g3n
LA County socked in well inland. Very hazy, almost foggy. This might take a while to clear out.

Pn1ct0g3n
Slower going here. Inversion is stronger than the last few days and inland temps indicate a deep marine layer.

Pn1ct0g3n
Yeah, if the marine layer is relatively deep but burns off quickly it often means higher highs near the coast than if it were shallow.

The Marine layer was very shallow today on the Central Coast and the visibility was under 0.25 mi. During the Noon hour for the 5 minute updates, it looks like it went up to 82F unofficially for the Santa Maria Airport. Dew points are high again today. It does help that the Santa Maria Airport is 12 miles away from the ocean.

Pn1ct0g3n
Another one of those days when clearing was good south of PV but poor to the north. It’s getting foggy here, and it cooled down quite dramatically. Marine push incoming?
Thunder98
Just be thankful that we don't live in Morro Bay. They only had a high of 64F with the marine layer lasting almost all day.

That sounds like paradise. high here today was 102F, and the temperature is remaining very warm and not cooling down at all this evening. Also poor air quality today. AquariusRadar
The ITCZ is very quiet between 115W and 150W. No thunderstorm activity. A small leak of high level moisture going to California through a shallow saddle of the Pacific high. Coming from the cluster of storms at 170W area. Weak flow. A ways to go before any kind of a fall feel. Maybe Olaf can help wet SoCal if he can get north of the Baja.
Pn1ct0g3n
Dense fog all night; still overcast and very hazy. Clearing prospects uncertain in my area. 6 years ago today was awesome—85 and raining, as the remnants of Hurricane Linda passed right over me.

Very strong Pacific high has kept our ocean cool and ensured that anything interesting fizzles out before it reaches the coast. Olaf is sadly expected to track west into the open ocean, away from us. Pn1ct0g3n
Cleared out over me and warmed up to the high 70s, but it’s still overcast just half a mile to the south and over the beach itself. That should burn off soon according to the satellite. Wind direction keeps wobbling between weak eddy and non-eddy every few hours.
