Another hot day today

Up north, Eureka probably has another 100 years to go before global warming gives them warm summers. By 2050 they might reach 90.

Climate experts are saying SF will not feel much different in 2050 than it does now. Maybe a few degrees warmer overall but not much change in days of heat. The Pacific waters off the west coast are a nearly limitless heat sink.

But here, let’s have a sunset!

Camera never does the colors justice, to the human eye I was seeing a lot more pinkish colors than what the camera captured.

San Diego made it to 85 F yesterday.

Low was 71F this morning. Lowest temperature so far at my station this month was 66F on August 6.

Today is the last day of the sun angle peaking above 70 degrees here until April 30th of next year.

Marine layer starting to recover especially N of Pt.C and isolated places elsewhere. Miramar reported dense fog this morning.

The deep mid month trough is mercifully not looking likely. NWS Oxnard looking like a case of “steady as she goes”:

It does feel like the Pacific is starting to regain control since we’ve gone quite a few days without a good moisture wave. Noticed an earlier sea breeze this morning for instance.

Despite 104F yesterday, the temp sunk to 68F this morning, which shows that higher daytime temperatures do not necessarily guarantee very warm nighttime ones - monsoonal moisture/increased humidity affects that much more directly, which has not been present these past several nights (at least not much).

More of the same here. Pleasant, if boring, lateish summer pattern. But I’ll take it over Fogust any day!
