Twas a whole two weeks ago we had an upper-level trough that is pretty much climatologically impossible anywhere else in the country except Alaska and maybe northern Maine.
Mt Shasta City currently running a +6.3 for the month. Near record hot. Close enough to here that I could hop in my car right now and be there by evening if I wanted to. Those who want to avoid heat around here have indeed been pretty lucky this month.
My friend, I have been torching relentlessly since late January when it hit 81 degrees. You haven’t. There is a massive difference IMO.
If you had been roasting all spring/summer, do you really think I would be chastising you over yet another heat/ridging cycle? Of course not. I’m not a sadist.
Also this upcoming +TNH/western ridge might be my only chance at substantial rain/storms this summer. It’s still a hot/nasty pattern here, but I’m willing to compromise. An I allowed some rain? Please?
I guess compared to what it “could have been” (sort of an abstract idea), this year has been pretty tolerable so far. I’ve enjoyed the steady diet of average troughiness April through June.
