Before the 3" in 4 days mid May I had 18 days of zero. Ive thought long in hard as to why this county gets missed so often!!!! How in the world did Ottumwa Iowa get the 60 year averages? I regularly review over 350 gages across Iowa and often other adjacent states. And this is factual and chronic. A local desmoines tv met did the research, visited me and did a report on it. But why? Why less lift in atmosphere here in recent years (since 2012). Or has thier simply NEVER been accurate data here? I have noticed that DSM airport gets less precip than north burbs of desmoines. Theres a ridge in western Iowa. You might call it a divide between the missouri river and mississippi river plateau. Storm build on that ridge. My area is low 700 ft avg above sea level. But its also very hilly and one of most wooded parts of Iowa. There is something affecting lift here. The last legit flood warning was june 2021. Before that sept 2017. Very few heavy warm season rains here!!!! Its a fact. But why?
