Grizzcoat
Noticeable S shift when you compare older runs of the HRRR with newer ones.... Here in C.IA -- hope it's right and that the trends S continue. PL or sleet is likely to really eat into totals in spots but you got be near that at times to really cash in. Tom
The lower ratio snows should condense into frozen concrete when the cold comes. For those who get hit, you should be lucky enough to see snow OTG for several weeks the way the pattern is aligning as we head into Feb. Bryan1117
Did 6+ area come south a bit on GFS?It either looks like it came south a bit or expanded? Maybe the models are picking up on the possible convection later this afternoon/evening. The Omaha metro is right on the edge of the heavier band, a slight shift by 25-30 miles either way is going to make a huge difference. The bust potential on the southern end of this system is extremely high I would say. I am in Sioux City currently, 31 degrees with a heavy band of snow just to the south about to move overhead. Leaving here in about an hour or so to drive back to Omaha before conditions really go downhill this afternoon.

NEJeremy
We're still sitting at 32 here when it's supposed to get to 39 and rain first. Still plenty of time to get that warm but it's not really moving at all. Right now forecast says the changeover happens aroun 8p tonight but maybe we can get snow earlier

NEJeremy
we're even getting pretty close to the 6" line here in Omaha on the RGEM. My parents are in Yankton, SD right on the river with Nebraska and they're expecting 14" with localized areas of 18" I about drove up there this morning to experience a true snowstorm for the first time in a LONG time!
