Dan the Weatherman
5.1 Quake in La Habra, California just a while ago. I felt it quite strongly at my house here in Orange, as the epicenter is only approximately 7 or 8 miles NW of here. I didn't have any damage at my house except for a plant shelf getting knocked over that was not level in the first place. A couple of plants on the shelf sustained a bit of damage, but they will grow back, and I may be able to propagate the pieces that broke off to start new plants. Andie
The 4.4 on the 17th was clearly a foreshock. Even after these, there may be an even great quake in the days or weeks ahead. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/ci15481673#summary Quite a few aftershocks The 5.1 was centered in La Habra at 7.5 km deep, it had a 3.4 and 3.6 and 3.4 aftershock. At this post there have been over 100 aftershocks. Several houses and apartments have been deemed unlivable http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-earthquake-residents-displaced-aftershocks-20140329,0,7512253.story#axzz2xN5smoiK I've noticed too that there have been several quakes around Eureka, Calif. and down on the Calif./Mex. border. These are on and along the San Andreas. So, perhaps the timing is moving forward for some really significant and damaging quakes. I hope all of you in California have your supplies and quake plans in place just for safety's sake. Dan the Weatherman
There are still some structures in Fullerton that remain red-tagged as of right now due to the quake damage.
