The problem is that we are dealing with practically a cutoff low in the forecast. As the story goes: a cutoff low is a weatherman's woe (and a model's woe) as well! The pattern needs to become more progressive.

This year's lack of a spring which caused jacarandas to bloom in July is now confusing the sweetgum trees which still have green leaves.

Equation of Time must make it down to 15.73920 before solar noon can be at 11:35 AM here. It should get there by about 2 PM today, which is later than 11:35 AM, of course.

I have noticed that the liquidambar tree (I think this is the same tree you are referring to) in my nextdoor neighbor's yard is still fully leafed out and has lost either very few leaves or no leaves at all.

Nah, early sunset times are a lot better tha late sunrises. daylight time is great in the summer, but terrible for winter.

What kind of weekday morning do you have?  I am busy getting up and going to work.  I'll be grumbling whether it is dark or light.  It's not like I'm going to enjoy an early sunrise.  A late sunset, on the other hand...

I wake up around 5:30am-7AM every day.

So you place more value in waking up to sunlight than it getting dark later.  I prefer the other way around, but I would take either if it meant not changing the clocks.
