I'll be interested to see what Phil thinks the implications of this might be. WPO is about to fully reverse while the PNA stays low. I think this might allow much of the CONUS to heat up due to the influence of the troughing in the NW becoming more limited.
For coming out of a strong Nino this is almost miraculous. There have been a lot of cold troughs offset by a few solidly warm periods. At least for this area below normal days have far outnumbered warm ones.
