Looks like an easterly wave is approaching, which could keep the high temperatures down a bit from the forecast, but make it more humid.

Wow, well that was easy. Burbank just reached 113F as of the 1:53pm update. Likely to climb another degree or two before all is said and done and shattering the all-time record. Pretty darn impressive.

Deepest snow depth: 12"

There's been a discussion of the disparities of readings within very short distances [like a block away] on WeatherWest. Most nearby stations were several degrees [up to 5°] warmer than my location but I trust the accuracy of my instruments nonetheless.

What's concerning is that sunset is less than 30 minutes away and the temp is still above 100F. Also wind is picking up this evening. Serious fire conditions.

At 11:15pm it is currently anywhere from 93 to 104 in Santa Barbara. At the same time, it is 62 in Santa Maria. Ok then.

This even has some really fascinating variation in temperature over incredibly short distances.

In Thousand Oaks I see it's 76 at the library, and 93 just a few blocks north. 101 on the beach in parts of Malibu. Similar story all over the place.

In Ventura, it's 73 degrees at the intersection of Foothill Rd and Victoria. Drive half a mile up the hill? 93.

It smells like smoke outside. Not sure which fire it's coming from.

I could smell smoke last night and again this morning; perhaps due to scattered fires in San Diego/ Riverside counties. It was too hot all night to even open the windows anyway.

Some consider water temps below 80F as too cool for comfortable swimming.  Today's heat will fill the beaches to capacity.

Revised today's minimum to 82F [temp at 11:59PM]. Down 2 degrees from this morning's low. This happens regularly esp during trending onshore flow. Dewpoints have lowered to comfortable levels inland [under 60°].
