Farmboy
I'm in Quartzsite, AZ for the winter, anybody have an idea of when fall might make an appearance in the desert Southwest? Anti Marine Layer
If the latest GFS verifies, you could be looking at over 4" of rain late next week. That would cool things off. Looks like remnants of a hurricane would cause that.
Dan the Weatherman
If the latest GFS verifies, you could be looking at over 4" of rain late next week. That would cool things off. That would be something exciting for the region if it were to verify! There simply has not been much in the way of monsoon moisture or hurricane remnants over the SW this entire summer. I have been largely absent from this blog as of late due to the lack of exciting weather in the region. Hopefully that changes in the coming months! That would cause some serious flooding for sure around here. Quote "Avoiding unwanted weather is a key element of happiness."

Anti Marine Layer
If the sun were to stay exactly over the equator all day on the Spring or Fall Equinox and there was no atmospheric refraction, the shadow length of a north-south facing wall would remain constant all day long and be equal to the height of the wall times the tangent of your latitude. However, it is close enough that you should not notice any changes throughout the day. The sun also rises due east and sets due west. The Fall Equinox happens tonight at 12:50 AM.
