Reg
Dark and cloudy this morning, been a long time since I've been able to stay that.
Anti Marine Layer
Seems to be getting darker as the day progresses.
Anti Marine Layer
Mt Wilson cam is broken, but the marine layer seems to be at least 4000 ft deep.
Reg
I love this morning's weather. It's cool, dark, cloudy and drizzling (but no measurable precip). I'd expect this in late October or early November, but not late September.
Anti Marine Layer
Raining again here. However it's not the source they were forecasting the rain to come from.
Thunder98
It's kind of muggy today and smokey from the control burns at the Santa Maria Airport.
Anti Marine Layer
Looks like even the Inland Empire will remain cloudy today. Some reverse clearing is trying to get its act together here.
Reg
I wish it were dark and cloudy like this more often. Had enough drizzle to wet the streets for a few minutes earlier but not measurable.
Anti Marine Layer
Reverse clearing this afternoon with things looking very dark inland. Rather warm marine layer with sea surface temperatures still warm from the summer.
Reg
Can confirm no patches of blue sky here. Still beautifully dark and cloudy.
Anti Marine Layer
How does the same low cause an offshore flow on Tuesday and a deep marine layer on Thursday. It must have retrograded.
Thunder98
This has to be an error. Temps in the 80's for 10 minutes and then "light rain". It has to be from that control burn fire earlier today.
Anti Marine Layer
Mostly mid to upper 70s today and even some low 80s, despite the deep marine layer.
Anti Marine Layer
Nothing new in the California Weather Blog for a long, long time.
Anti Marine Layer
If the inversion does happen to get wiped out early next week, we could have our first chilly nights in quite a while.
Anti Marine Layer
3 days ago was the Fall Equinox but today we had the Fall Equilux which is the day closest to 12 hours of daylight. Atmospheric refraction gives a little more than 12 hours of daylight on the Equinox and a few days after. At both poles the sun is up 24 hours on the Equinox. The date of the equilux varies by latitude and is nonexistent at the poles and near the equator.
Anti Marine Layer
More than just drizzle this morning as it was actually raining hard enough at one point to hear it dripping from the roof. Looks like they are now expecting a pretty strong cold front for Saturday night.
Thunder98
Very deep marine layer this morning. It's extending all the way to the Carrizo Plains and Cuyama valley. Almost to the edge of the Central Valley too!
Anti Marine Layer
Marine layer did reach the Central Valley in the Sacramento area. That is explosive deepening up there from yesterday. Looks like today could be another reverse clearing day here.
Reg
Gloomy and cloudy again today, this is wonderful.

Thunder98
A forecast high of only 65F tomorrow. That is more typical of December rather than in Late September.
Anti Marine Layer
Sun finally came out here by about 3:30. Still is a reverse clearing pattern with dark clouds towards Santa Ana mountains.
Anti Marine Layer
Hard to imagine the marine layer could get any deeper than it already is, but that is what is supposed to happen tonight.

Thunder98
Had some drizzle and light rain last night. Nothing measurable of course, but it's something.
Anti Marine Layer
There was overnight rain or drizzle here too, but now it's just cloudy and cool. Unfortunately it won't be enough rain to put an end to the fire season.
Anti Marine Layer
Light rain has started once again.

Anti Marine Layer
Hard to believe it was in the 90s here last weekend. Leaves are falling even though the trees are still green.

It is failing to even reach 70F today, very rare for September.Might still get some rain tonight, but you are probably rain shadowed by the Santa Ana mountains.
Anti Marine Layer
Some areas near the coast were warmer than the Inland Empire as is typical with very deep marine layers.
Anti Marine Layer
Not too often that the highs for both Oceanside Harbor (72 F) and Del Mar Beach (70 F) end up being warmer than Temecula (69 F).
