Phil
Ugly @ DCA right now by late October standards..76/74 just ahead of the cold front. More tolerable here..68/67 as skies clear with the inception of downsloping. Wxmidatlantic
Haven't seen this pattern since Winter of, 78-79. It started with wild fires. Warm air stayed into late December along East Coast. Then it dropped the hammer. 1 Quote A Navy Chief said, "Never change your forecast. That way you can only be wrong once." Phil
Very interested in tomorrow night. Possible high winds and spinups along the QLCS as it passes through, then a brief surge of W/NW winds behind the cold front under sharp CAA/pressure rises, with momentum transfer possibly aided by residual precipitation. Should be a wild ride from 6pm to 3AM. Phil
Rain has started here under the isentropic lift. Falling moderately with calm winds and a temp of 61*F. We’ve now had over 5” of rain since the 15th, with at least another inch on the way with this event (possibly 2”). Hard to believe we were on the verge of severe drought conditions just 2 weeks ago. Remarkable turnaround. Phil
One heck of a night. S/SE winds raged, then two lines of storms blew trough with decent lightning, then the pressure surge/cold front came through and dropped the dewpoint from 71 to 31 in a few hours. Winds around 45-55mph most of the time..so nothing otherworldly but still impressive for so early in the season. 1 Quote Live Weather Cam: https://www.youtube.com/live/KxlIo8-KVpc?si=xKLCFYWbZieAfyh6 PWS Wunderground https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62 PWS CWOP/NOAA: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=F3819&hours=

Phil
Had our first freeze this morning. Low of 30.6*F. Not sure that was cold enough to kill off the skeeters and the rest of the insects, but it’s a start. Down to 35.6*F as of 11:50pm..might freeze again tonight but it will be close with the front moving through..might mix things out a bit towards dawn. Wxmidatlantic
Some serious "snow porn," last night. I thinking a chance to see a storm. Epic cold nevertheless. Great snow making from Carolina north. First cold shoot 1-3 natural. With second cold push they should have 30-40 inch base by thanksgiving. Great pattern with potential storm lurcking..... Phil
Not much of a diurnal cycle today. Midnight high of 45*F under the blustery CAA regime. Down to 38.1*F as the sun sets, should be a hard freeze tonight once we decouple. Mid-20s seem doable.
