Our low level thermo profiles w/ onshore flow seem to break the boundary layer schemes. Tim’s rule about southerly flow seems to hold true 99% of the time. Also the GFS has been trash ever since the shift to the FV3 core in mid-2019. The Feb 2019 event was the last time it was semi-useful for lowland snow.

They had also just gone 118 straight days without hitting 60 degrees, which was their longest streak in 44 years. This week definitely has a March 2012 vibe but it's looking short lived.
