Anti Marine Layer
It took until 6:33 PM for the sun to reach an azimuth of 270 (due West) tonight with a sunset of 6:54 PM. By Sunday, it will not reach due West until after sunset because it will be Fall. No haze in the air this evening as I walked 1.6 miles with my dog as the sun went down. Anti Marine Layer
Very hazy today. In fact haze was thick enough to be reported as overcast in Fullerton this afternoon. Sunrise should have occurred at the South Pole, but it looks to be cloudy there. https://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/obop/spo/livecamera.html

Anti Marine Layer
Not only does the sun set about one hour and 18 minutes earlier than it did on the Summer Solstice tomorrow. It also gets dark faster. The equinoxes are when it gets dark fastest.
Anti Marine Layer
First day of Fall today although it does not officially start until after sunset. At solar noon, you can point a pole to the south to an angle where there is no shadow. That angle should be your latitude. The shadow length of a north/south facing wall will be pretty much constant all day. We start with a marine layer this morning, but no major Santa Ana events or early Pacific storms are in the forecast.

Guest happ
Is that map for September 2018 month-to-date? The HPRCC map has a little finer resolution, but the same general pattern: No, it was from a few days ago. Your map is up-to-date.

Kayla
https://twitter.com/ai6yrham Some of the models show the remnant moisture from Rosa would likely be snowfall for Montana. Very intriguing pattern throughout the interior west that's for sure. Thunder98
1st significant storm of the season!
Guest happ
This is very encouraging: NWS_LA"If the GFS is the better model, expect moderate tolocally heavy showers to begin Tuesday morning across the CentralCoast. As the front begins to move through Point Conception, thefront begins to slow down and pick up some juicy moisture whichcould bring some heavy rain to both SBA and Ventura Counties. TheEuropean and NAM-WRF also bring in some prefrontal rain to theseareas, but much weaker initially. The bottom line is confidenceremains low on the timing of this relatively strong system thisearly in the season. But it is becoming more clear that there willbe plenty of moisture to tap into and with some instability in theatmosphere, a chance of thunderstorms could occur bringinglocally heavy rain at times in and around the cold front. The ECmodel delays the heavier rain until early Wednesday morning forthe SBA/Ventura County areas. People affected in or below recentburn areas should keep a close watch on the latest forecasts dueto the potential for heavy rain. If the models remain consistentwith the strength of this storm, a flash flood watch might beneeded for the recent burn areas from SBA Counties and VenturaCounties, and possibly L.A. County."
