February Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Just need the C-zone to push 5 miles south from where it is now

It's simultaneously fascinating and incredibly frustrating to sit here and watch distant hills beyond about 50th St turning white while the sun is still out here just a few miles south. I can see white rooftops in the distance.

One of my friends reported 1/2" diameter hail in Ballard about 30 minutes ago. She's lived here all her life and said it was as big as she's ever seen here

Heavy, sideways snow now. Temp steady at 33.

Cleared the deck after the afternoon snow and a fresh layer has already accumulated.

What's the wind direction?

Someone just posted this picture from Ballard on reddit. Pretty impressive!

That is some genuine hail.  I've seen it that large once and that was quite some time ago.

They've been falling apart as they've entered the inner Strait all day. Perhaps things will hold together better as we get into the evening?

This one looks more impressive.  We will see I guess.

Looks like a steady stream of showers training along the north slope of the Olympics now.  That should all dump down into the Puget Sound Basin in the coming hours.

Looks like it made another jump south.

It's most definitely way closer now. The U District has disappeared behind a wall of precip for me when 15 minutes ago it was completely clear.

The CZ is literally above I-90. Will see if it holds together

I'm cautiously optimistic.   That stream of stuff along the Olympics is really impressive.  I want this one.

Here is another view of the front edge.

Snowing and sunny right now. Looks like/hopefully I’m about to get pummeled.

I'm watching it roll across SLU and Queen Anne right now. We're about to get nailed. There's a very well defined wall of precipitation right on the southern edge of Lake Union currently.

Looking ominous on I-5!

Yeah, it definitely has that classic look to it. To my south is blue sky, and to the north is nothing but sweet darkness.

Snow is picking up here a bit in the waning sun.

The CZ would have to hold for another 15-20 miles to reach you.

It appears to be stuck about 5 blocks north of me. Torture.

It's still moving south.  You should see something.

You can see it clearly making southward progress now.  The entire zone is now located in King County.

Drove up to Lynnwood and alot of roads were slick. Mostly slush though. Looks like another area of snow along the county line.

I thought the mid level flow becoming more northerly would push the zone south but so far it's not happening.  No doubt this area has performed terribly for snow during this cold wave.
