Anti Marine Layer
Very gloomy start to the day today. No-sky July. Must be still deepening considering it is very slow to clear and it did not cover the whole Inland Empire this morning. Seems the clouds were at least 1500 ft thick.
Anti Marine Layer
Low can be seen over Monterey Bay area from the water vapor imagery, but it is otherwise invisible.
Anti Marine Layer
Marine Layer has been really awful this July, gloomiest July in a long time. UghJesse should like this.
Anti Marine Layer
Solar declination reaches 20.00 N later today. Mild day in the upper 70s here. Northern California getting some thunderstorm activity.
Anti Marine Layer
The upwelling has caused sea surface temperatures to take a nosedive lately, which explains why we are having colder mornings in July than in May for Downtown L.A. Orange and San Diego counties are not affected as much by this unfortunate incident.

Anti Marine Layer
It says marine layer is getting deeper but the clouds are thinning. Sad thing that the upper low that was responsible could not kick up some thunderstorms over the mountains here.
Anti Marine Layer
Thunderstorms again for Flagstaff with not much rain. At least they are having a monsoon season this year.
Anti Marine Layer
Low clouds cleared the beaches today, unlike yesterday.
Anti Marine Layer
Pretty sunsets are not a common occurrence this time of year in the Monterey Bay Area.
Anti Marine Layer
Some areas over the ocean, far away from the land, low clouds have not dissipated for many weeks. They are slower to move inland tonight. San Diego had a high of 73 both yesterday and today, despite becoming sunny today while staying cloudy yesterday.
Reg
Highs of only 87F and 86F over the last two days here, pretty rare for late July.

Anti Marine Layer
On clear mornings the skylights in our house are usually wet with dew. On overcast mornings they are not usually wet, unless there is drizzle. No drizzle so far this morning.
Thunder98
It's definitely No Sky July this year with the unusual consistent strong onshore flow and deep marine layer lasting all morning.
Anti Marine Layer
Pretty much anywhere north of Point Conception has been dreadful this year for marine layer clearing. Some people say climate change will cause less marine layer. Other people say it will cause stronger inversions and more marine layer. Wonder who is correct. Anti Marine Layer
Could get hot by the end of next week, but for now July continues to be more like May or June.
Anti Marine Layer
Downtown L.A. now averaging 0.5 below normal for July. No summer forecast contest this year.
Anti Marine Layer
Earlier burn off this morning, which means it will be hot soon, but still unlikely to end the 11-day below normal streak for Downtown L.A.
Anti Marine Layer
More interesting microclimates. Yesterday Santa Cruz had a high of 78 while Monterey had a high of 65. They are on opposite sides of the Monterey Bay. Salinas, which is about 8 miles inland, had a high of 69. Most days the wind is from the northwest, which helps to clear out Santa Cruz. However when wind is from the south, Monterey tends to be sunnier than Santa Cruz.
