Finally experiencing proper Summer weather! Air temps only slightly higher than yesterday at the immediate coast and still breezy, but at least the clouds are of the puffier, prettier variety. Very cool looking perfectly symmetric stratocane spinning just NW of San Nicolas right now.

Pn1ct0g3n
Unlike last year we’ve got a nice beefy Four Corners High to give us pretty sunsets and (relatively) balmy waters. Looking pretty solid for early-mid July so far.

Pn1ct0g3n
So far it’s been gorgeous here. First day to break 75+ in MB since mid June, despite a pretty stiff sea breeze. During a good heat wave with monsoon air, the breeze often dies mid-late afternoon, leading to those muggy evenings.

AquariusRadar
Laughably weak is the right description for the Governor's proclamation: cut water use by 15%. Governor's weak proclamation https://www.yahoo.com/news/letters-editor-newsoms-request-maybe-202828503.html Our leadership local/ state/ national simply don't get the serious threat of drought dangers ahead. This is not going to be pretty-neighbors fighting neighbors for water. Politicians need to do something now. Scandalous disregard for California's biggest threat. Pn1ct0g3n
Dews have mostly been low-mid 60s today. Pretty typical for mid July when the monsoon is around. Incidentally that cloud cover has spared inland areas from the worst of the heat today. They were expecting records to fall, but outside the deserts we saw nothing out of the ordinary for a high. Funny how the same year we are getting record heat in the deserts, the Bay Area is enduring one of its coldest summers ever. If you really hate the heat, try Eureka where it’s 59 right now. Pn1ct0g3n
The massive cold blob extending out past Hawaii is still there though. Along our coast, the last two weeks of on and off weak eddies have done a lot to put the kibosh on our subnormal water temps. They also seem to have prevented any record-smashing heat west of the mountains this weekend, contrary to forecast. It’s still very warm, but what you’d expect from July. The heat dome is strong and if it were to shift just a bit further west, it would have cut off the ocean air and allowed temps to really soar. Immediate coastal and inner coastal highs are not that far above normal with this event so far.
Pn1ct0g3n
Looks like interior valleys stayed under 100 today because of strong eddy winds. Even hot cities like Pomona and Temecula are in the low 80s and the onshore flow has penetrated into there. A weak inversion and monsoon flow has saved most of the beaches from being socked in — even MB almost got to 80 today!

Pn1ct0g3n
All coastal waters S of Pt. Conception are looking pretty inviting right now. “Trunkable” (~70 degree) readings have arrived from Pt. Anti Marine Layer
There was a marine layer at Corona Del Mar yesterday and lots of seaweed in the water. Pn1ct0g3n
Nice here today — high 70s with a balmy breeze. Feels similar to a midwinter day in Hawaii.
