Thunder98
10 days from now will the Autumn Equinox, That is when my interest from wanting to see hot weather in Summer (lol, not this year) to cooler weather with some rain for the Autumn season
Pn1ct0g3n
OC and SD beaches have fared better. The northern Channel Islands often guide the marine layer directly at the South Bay. Depending on inversion depth and the strength of the onshore flow, they may flow in continuously all day. They typically extend a mile or so inland, roughly to Sepulveda Boulevard, thus my term “Sepulveda Wall”. 70 might be our high here.

Pn1ct0g3n
You’ve beat me pretty regularly this year. I *do* live in one of the coolest coastal microclimates anywhere from LA County down, though. On par with the Santa Monica Pier and only surpassed by Malibu. I think it has to do with being near the middle of the bay, so no matter the wind direction we have almost zero protection. Next week should be a taste of fall for most places, particularly near the coast.

Pn1ct0g3n
Take those days, add 3F to the highs and 10F to the lows, and you basically have what Manhattan Beach has been 80% of the time.
Thunder98
I have seen zero thunderstorms this year in my area and the last one occurred on 8/15/2020.
Pn1ct0g3n
May/June like northwest flow is back all the way along the coast. Yaaawn. Fall sometimes begins with “June Gloom in reverse” lasting a week or two as winds cool the ocean but the deserts are still hot, but this is far from consistent. Pn1ct0g3n
Definitely feels like fall here, or at least a cool spell. The Sepulveda Wall is up. The heat is hanging on inland with the shallow marine layer.

Pn1ct0g3n
Santa Monica Bay has been in a never ending tug of war as cold water creeps in from the west, only to be beaten back when the wind shifts to the south. It’s been more stable south of PV.

Thunder98
Wow that upwelling on the Central Coast, the VC Coast Malibu area! That explains the marine layer being super stubborn for September. 1
Anti Marine Layer
Apparently sea surface temperatures must have taken a big dump at the beaches, but it looks like there's still some warmer water not far offshore, so maybe a stronger onshore flow and deeper marine layer will warm the beaches up later this week.
