Especially when EUG is already gusting into wind advisory range. More of a nowcast at this point. Anything in the 55mph range would be an issue here, IMO. Been a long time since we've seen southerlies that strong and the trees haven't been tested much recently. Not to mention the large quantities of dead/sick conifers. Been a lot of hot summers since the last noteworthy storm. The soaked soils also won't help.

Considering the southern Willamette Valley is seeing gusts 45-50mph it only seems practical for winds to be at least 5mph stronger Salem northward I'd think. I would definitely pull the trigger on a HWWarning.

They usually wait more on advisories than warnings. I have to admit I'm 50/50 on this one for the Seattle area. I've kind of got that sinking feeling (good for most of you).
