The MJO keeps trending in our favor every day. At this rate, the cold signal can last a very very long time. The strongly negative -IOD caused issues earlier with the MJO stalling *too much*, but now the weaker -IOD is causing the positive impacts that we would like to see... Stalling over the Indian Ocean phases. The models keep backing off from the renewed wave of amplified Phase 7 convection over the Pacific that they've been showing earlier, and keeping the MJO incredibly week or closer towards Phase 8/1. The Euro is still in the Phase 7 camp but is trending away every day.
