I took a couple of photos from my kitchen window for posterity...it is certainly a pretty day.

All white here, already feels like I have more snow than I did on Christmas eve (which was almost nothing). I forgot how quickly snow can accumulate when everything is already frozen. Precip is still light of course.

Hillsboro already reporting moderate snow.

Worth mentioning - this is the latest 3" snowfall (officially) in Portland since Feb. 28, 1962. We just beat Feb. 19, 1993 by one day for the honors. Also, a first - this is the latest in the season that PDX has had a high of 34 or lower, with 3"+ of snow. Again, just beat out 2-19-1993.

Somewhere between 2" and 2.5" currently, depending on where measured.

Just got home. 1 inch and 31.0 degrees.

Looks like our snow is just about over in SW WA. 2" new, in addition to the 1.3" that fell this morning. A solid 3" depth.

24! I am honestly glad folks down south are joining in the fun...but it helps that I still have a lot of white! And my dog now has snow traction!

I now have the most snow on the ground during this whole February event. The roads are covered for the first time.

I got 11" total, 2.5" of which was lake effect. Fun storm. A brief break but some more chances for snow in a few days.

Light snow and 30 here. Maybe up to 1/4”. We still had a crusty half inch in the shade from the night before last that is now covered. Building a snowpack!

Good luck, guys! This storm/pattern is well deserved after the last several years of blah. Last winter wasn’t nearly enough to even things out.

Last night was a tease. I want severe weather now.

Looking at the reanalysis on the 500mb pattern that delivered the Arctic front I can see it why we didn't get much snow here. A while back I did a composite of 500mb maps associated with Arctic fronts that delivered snow to Seattle and ones that didn't. This one was squarely in the low snow camp. Next time around I'm going to use that data to make my snow predictions with the Arctic front.

No doubt, low elevation anywhere in WA or OR is pretty much horrible for snow. This place really feels like a madhouse sometimes though with all these people losing their minds over just the chance of getting an inch or two of snow and then most often somehow getting screwed and getting nothing. Kind of blows my mind that I was actually pretty well positioned on most all models to have a few inches on the ground tonight and am going to end up with zero. I'm not sure I'd move to somewhere it always snows because it is its rarity that makes me hunger for snow so much. Just need a balance maybe.

Seriously? Dude, it's weather. Roll the dice and hope for the best. You're your own worst enemy when it comes to this roller coaster crap and no one should have to feel guilty for enjoying a little snow.

Very heavy snow in Gresham right now! Can barely see anything because the wind is ripping! Have maybe 3 inches.

Record cold max of 13 at DEN today. The high of 14 at Boulder appears to be the coldest high this late since 1962.

3km NAM still shows a heavy band developing right over Portland in 2-3 hours.

-24 at Dillon Airport this morning is the coldest reading for so late in the season, besting -23 on Feb. 28th, 1960.

Just got home from work, only about an inch at our office in Lacey, got home to 3 inches of new snow, nice little storm.

Looks like that band is doing work over the north OR coast.

18z ICON brings some pretty heavy snow through around 10PM tonight

I can't separate the systems, but here's the 12z euro through the weekend... a nice big goose egg over southeast Iowa. I have a feeling several good snowfalls will miss me nw over the next 2+ weeks.

Dumping snow now, good sized flakes. Lets see if it can do a bit better at accumulating on the roads. HIO is reporting 33F though so that kind of sucks.

I think 2-4" amounts will be very common with some areas hitting 5-7".

Ended up with 7". Low of -3 this morning. Drive into Boulder this AM.

The 3km NAM nailed 1/10/17 and it appears to be locked in for this event at PDX. Looking like a really fun day for you guys! Looks like the West Hills will be the big winners, very similar to 1/10 as well. Only downside to this event is that it will be coming in during peak heating in late Feb. I think seattle area may do good tomorrow evening. Seattle office kinda touched on this. At this time I would not be shocked to see portland to olympia buried under 6 -12 inches by late tomorrow and maybe 2-4 north of Olympia to Seattle.

I've had close to 1.5" of rain thus far with lots of standing water in my back yard. Getting a pretty good down pour ATM with a much needed lull in the action after this rolls through. I think with the next round of rainfall later this afternoon/evening I can solidly reach the 2" mark and depending on where the heavier bands set up I might top the 3" mark.
