  1. Lol. I got wrapped up in the Seahawks game and didn't notice the snow had started dumping. Down to 23 now.

  2. Hongcouver is nickname given to Vancouver due to large population if Chinese/HongKong people in the area. It isn’t wrong though. I’m Asian (not chinese) so I know since I visit the area 2-3 times a year for fun.

  3. OMG! I hadn't looked at the radar for a while and it's looking really good. The zone is still very robust and moving south. Nice to see the cold air working down from Bellingham so quickly. This might turn out to be something very good yet.

  4. Just measured 5 inches here. Starting to feel legitimately deep out!

  5. Just got back from the coast. Close to white out conditions going over the coast range summit on highway 6. Snowiest I’ve seen on that pass in awhile. Rain snow mix was falling almost all the way down to Banks, too.

  6. Absolutely dumping down here in Victoria now, the temperature just dropped below freezing and the ground is turning white.

  10. Down to 30 now in Everett and things are starting to freeze up. Closing in on 4 inches here and I really think I'll have close to 6" by morning. It's incredible outside.

  11. Sooooo what did I miss today? Looks like the GFS continues to trend colder with the airmass the next few days in the home stretch, while the Euro decided to move the Thursday low into Juneau.

  17. Bro, I dropped out of high school as a senior, went back and got my GED, then went to community college for an associate’s degree before transferring to UMD the BS/MS (which I’m still working on). You’re already better off than I was at your age. Oh, and I got put on academic probation during my first semester at college. So I’ve been through it all. But seriously..f**king Los Angeles? Do you want your passion for weather to die completely? Go somewhere that will enable your passions, not kill them. LA sucks. And so do liberal arts schools.

  21. Temp dropped 6 degrees in about 20 minutes, just as the north wind picked up. Took it's sweet time crossing the border. Held up at customs, I suppose.....

  22. Snowing pretty good for a while now. It's very dry snow. Got half inch so far which is more than I got from the fri-sat storm

  23. You are calm, composed, collected. A wise, old sage. You have the perfect mix of experience, intellect, and perpetual equanimity. We, on the other hand, are fools. While reading the forum, you sometimes ask God, “Why did you make me so smart and others so dumb?” But he never replies, so you’re left standing in amazement of your greatness and just slightly erect at the wonder of it all..

  24. Since Snowmizer is up at his cabin frolicking in the bounties of snow loveliness over there (all of us need a cabin in the snowy land) I am going to speak for him... “The WRF is a steaming pile of donkey Kong , don’t trust it...”

  29. It's unbelievable that we ration out economic success to people based on their grades as idiot adolescents well before their brains are even done developing. That being said, the idea many teenagers have that you need to get into a high end college right out of High School in order to live a successful life is untrue, especially if you have a support system around you. Hoping to see some flakes before I go to bed tonight but the Coast Range has been completely owning all of the precip. Sad.

  37. Off topic, but I consider myself a bit of an enthusiast of the original donkey kong. I was able to score a couple hundred thousand and get way up there on the arcade version scoreboards. If you are a video game geek like me, watch the King of Kongs. Btw, I no longer feel me and TWL are gonna get completely shafted. My guess is about 2 inches total, but not necessarily depth.

  38. The coldest point of this run is colder than last night's 00Z too. 516 thickness line gets pretty close to PDX late Tuesday into Wednesday. A better intrusion of cold sets us up well for things being more suppressed later in the week, which bodes well for snow chances.

  39. Classic low position for a Portland snowstorm. The location and strength of the low will obviously keep changing each run though.

  41. Yep, and that office had some explaining to do as most. Unlike other offices, they tried by publishing this: Here in Marshall, we ALWAYS get the wet part correct: 0755 PM HEAVY RAIN 2 SSE MARSHALL 42.23N 84.95W 01/11/2020 M2.26 INCH CALHOUN MI AWOS AWOS STATION KRMY MARSHALL BROOKS FIELD. As we know, the Euro failed just as miserably with it's portrayal of a "Major Snowstorm" with amounts as high as 30+ inches at one point across NMI (incredibly off the mark!). When this thread was started the Euro still had the heavy swath where (in a typical cold regime it would've been) right across SMI. So, it had the end track correct way back on Monday prior to shifting NW with the heavy snow swath and "yellow track" per the APX graphic. In that shifted position it insisted on 1/2" of snow for mby which is where I ended up. It's (and other model's) better snows as they realized the track would be more SE weren't doing a good job with the warm nose aloft. Only some of the SR models kept snowfall minimal here, most along with the globals showed 2-4". I do see a 2" report about 40 mi due north so you could say that's how far they missed this by for mby.

  42. 6z GEFS Ensembles for Yakima shows a definite cold pool signature with temperatures after the 20th not reaching freezing now through the 28th. That's BIG change. What does that mean? Likely persistent cold low level air and east winds through the Gorge into PDX.
