The scary thing if Trump wins in 2024 is he will be completely unrestrained. He's already been impeached twice, is now facing criminal charges. If he wins he will KNOW he cannot be held accountable and will move on his darkest desires. I think he can win too, it blows my mind, but it seems possible.

Totally agree 100%.  I'd say that it has been the case for far longer than 2008.  2008 just made it visible for even the most blind to see.

Also agree 100%.  I still say Biden has it, but it's a possibility.  The dark part of me wants him to have another 4 years.  It's gotta get worse before we demand better.

It appears that the Allen, Texas mall shooting may have been a domestic terrorist attack, not a ordinary mass shooting. There are too many characteristics that set this apart: Ex-Military, Affiliation with a domestic terrorist/supremacy, and enough ammo to wipe out hundreds.

The only reason why it was prevented from becoming much worse is because a police officer happened to be in the mall at the time, and he took down the gunman.

It doesn’t take much (if any) reading between the lines to conclude this. He’s openly stated that if he gets a second term it is going to be all about revenge.

And what does that say for the growth and benefit of Americans?  Not much. It’s unnerving if he said revenge.  
The Presidency and it’s incredible powers aren’t meant for that.  
Surely a sensible Republican will step up.

This defeatist mentality, I believe, is harmful to the cause of most Americans. Corrupt career politicians like Joe Biden are enabled by simply knowing that a fair share of Americans will vote for the establishment no matter what the situation, which allows for the continued corrupt bi-partisan establishment to remain in power basically indefinitely. Amercians criticize countries like Russia, China, Iran, etc. ("why don't the people overthrow their oppressive governments?") - look at us.

This is common, sadly. I met people who appeared to be prone to this during my time in the Army as well, and not long ago. Trump was president but I saw all sorts.

People do not vote for Trump for pragmatism or mutual benefit.  He is their attack dog.  They want others to feel pain that they themselves either fairly or unfairly feel.

Sometimes I wonder how someone like LBJ would do now.  Trump on the left of sorts.  Or a centrist with a cultlike personality.  Someone who can harness the aura of Trump but... actually be good for this country.

When Kennedy was killed, he met with his Generals.  They wanted to decimate Vietnam.  Big money for the CIA’s Air America in drugs.  
LBJ’s remark to the General’s was famous. “You want your goddamn war?  I’ll give you your goddamn war!”

THAT was LBJ.  60,000 young men died.  A brutal bastard.  Not a benevolent arsehole by a long shot.  
I lived under him as a Texas Gov. as a kid. He was infamous for his brutality.

Yeah, I should have worded it better.  Vietnam, not a good side for him.  I was mostly referring to domestic accomplishments.

James LIndsay calls the critical theorists' version of social justice "critical social justice" or simply Social Justice (capital s, capital j) to differ it from the liberal version of social justice of MLK Jr.

So we could also distinguish "woke" and "Woke", where woke means "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)." and is a good thing.

Capital W Woke means "understanding that America is a systematically racist place and also that capitalism is inherently unjust and unfair". Most conservatives would not like to say "capital W Woke" all the time, though.

But capitalized, Wokeism is a religion just like Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism.
