It really makes you wonder how the US would act against its citizens in a full scale war/invasion, particularly foreign citizens.  Post 9/11 was already pretty bad.

Reimagined Japanese internment camps is almost a guarantee.  Andrew can't be alone with his opinions of blaming people of actions who are not responsible for said actions.

Given I am old enough to remember 9/11 and the fact there was no widespread anti-Muslim backlash after that event, I do not believe it would be as bad as you think. Yes, there were some isolated incidents after 9/11, but by and large people went out of their way to excuse Muslims living in the United States. President Bush even declared Islam was a "Religion of Peace.."

What I found remarkable in the wake of 9/11 was how common it was to hear an American explicitly say they did not blame Muslims for the attack and rebuke any backlash against them. Yet very few Muslims came out and denounced the attacks.

Shamefully, Canada was even worse in regard to the treatment of its Japanese citizens during WWII. Canada simply seized their property without compensation and herded them into concentration camps. At the least the USA let its Japanese citizens liquidate their property into cash before being herded into camps. (Often at fire-sale prices that fell far short of just compensation at fair market value, but still better than outright confiscation.)

Prior to the war many of the orchards in the Hood River Valley were owned by Japanese farmers. It was a really unfortunate circumstance, definitely a mistake, the interned Japanese as a whole were extremely loyal Americans and showed this after the war by fully integrating back into American society, and I think we as a whole recognize a great injustice was done them.

I have been to many of these camps as my wife's grandmother was Japanese, so she always wants to stop and check them out. Of course her grandmother was not in any camp, she spent WWII in Japan.

As for MLK, not sure what that reference has to do with anything. I wasn't alive then, so we will never know. My parents were though, and they always seemed to like him. Recently quite a bit of new information has come to life about Dr. King which casts him in a much more complicated light. I read a good article about that recently the personal Dr. King and the private Dr. King who was aware of his own faults and demons, but understood what he must project to the public for the movement to succeed, and really broken by the weight of that responsibility. An interesting perspective, and a very real one, even the greatest men are deeply flawed as we all are, in a way understanding this makes their achievements even more impressive.

MLK also refused violence even after being targeted with violence, which helped us realize. "Why are we doing this to unarmed people?"

(Also, we need to go back to the Middle East conflict)

He was complicated indeed. Many conflicting aspects in his life and lifestyle. Same can be said of the Kennedy’s, FDR, and many public figures. Who can stand up to the klieg lights if history?
In the end the long standing accomplishments are the best of them. The rest wholly human.

A Ukrainian military officer involved with the country’s intelligence services allegedly played a leading role in the bombing of the Nord Stream pipelines in 2022, sources familiar with the matter told The Washington Post.

Roman Chervinsky, a 48-year-old colonel who served in Ukrainian Special Forces, was the “coordinator” of the operation to blow up the pipeline, according to the Post. Chervinsky’s role allegedly involved managing logistics for the team that rented a sailboat and used diving equipment to plant explosives on the pipelines.

And really, this should not be a surprise. There have been rumors of this ever since the attack happened.

Really, who would have the biggest interest in such an attack at the time? The dominant narrative that it must have been Russians trying to starve the West of gas really did not make so much sense. Why would the Russian state blow up the assets of its own state company? Simply order that company to turn the taps off. Far simpler, not to mention less expensive.

P.S. Just realized what forum this is. Follow-ups should probably go to the general politics thread.

The attack occurred in Northern Europe Continental waters and Ukraine is a nebulous area. Suits Russian, No. Middle East, even Eastern Europe.  A real odd ball.
Probably why it’s been a bone of contention for centuries.

It’s the lack of tolerance for differing perspectives and culture that amaze me.
I tolerate their woke ways.
But they have no tolerance for others.  They’d better prepare for a wave of Conservative Catholics because the southern border has seen tens of thousands of them.
Hispanics are by and large Catholic and that usually teaches conservative principles.
Left governments have destroyed their countries through dictatorship so don’t expect them all to jump on the woke wagon.  Some will be brought onboard through handouts but they’re smarter than many know and they know the pitfalls of leftist administrations.
They’ll take the handouts but they’ll be cautious how they vote.  The Hispanic culture is family based and generally conservative.  I grew up with them and am married in to one.

c) The video really isn't very good evidence of what it claims to be showing. There are so many cuts in it. Now, if it had shown uncut footage going into a tunnel well away from the hospital, into obvious underground military bunkers, and then up to inside the hospital, then it would show something. But it does not.

Both lie to suit their goals.  I am sure there are tunnels everywhere in Gaza (it makes perfect sense militarily), but I'll be damned if I take the IDF's word on pretty much anything.
