Must've developed just a tad too late for up here. Did not take time to look into reasons tbh. Glad for yby amigo

I think for your area, there was not enough lifting, which reduced the snowfall considerably.

We will end our cloudy January today. I will post the East Nantmeal Twp. and combined All Chester County climate data tomorrow. However, we will end the month with a much colder January then last year with most stations across the county averaging 6 to 8 degrees colder than 2023 (of course last year was the warmest Jan on record!). We will finish January about 1" below average snowfall for the month... but it will be our 3rd snowiest January in the last 10 years and 4th wettest on record. Dry weather for much of the next week with tomorrow being our warmest day with temps well into the 40's.
Records for today: High 65 (1916) / Low minus 4.8 (2019) / Precipitation 1.25" (1914) / Snow 4.3" (2021)

All historical weather data analytics posted by me is specifically for the climate of Chester County PA.  We continually analyze the actual raw non-adjusted NWS certified Coop observed climate data for Chester County.  There have been no post observation adjustments to any of the detailed analytics. All data is sourced from trained NWS observers and spotters. The life blood of science is to challenge what is thought to be known. The concept that climate change etc. is somehow “settled science” describes a religion - a belief system that does not welcome challenges. We should all continue to challenge science!    Snow Totals 2023/24 = 24.5" -  11/28 (0.3") / 12/7 (0.8") / 12/11 (0.8") / 1/6 (2.0") / 1/16 (2.8") / 1/19 (4.5") / 2/13 (10.5") / 2/17 (2.8")

Average Chester County PA Snow at elevations over 660 FT ASL (1983-Present) = 35.9" Snow totals by season: 2022/23 (2.7") /2021/22 (20.5")  2020/21 snow  (52.2") /  2019/20 snow (5.8" )/ 2018/19 snow (35.1" )/ 2017/18 snow (58.5") / 2016/17 snow (24.0")/ 2015/16 snow (40.8")/ 2014/15 snow = (55.3") /2013/14 snow (80.0").

I realize  that many areas of  the usa have had a horrible  winter, but here are some stats from Ottumwa  Iowa less than 1/4 mile from the ENE edge of the city limits (OTM is 7 miles north).

Snowfall 38.7"

Precip 4.36"

Days with precip 14

Average  snow depth 11.3"

Coldest temp -18F

Highest temp 50F

The fact  that 38.2"  fell in just a 11 day period  will make January  2024 one of worst winter periods of my life!

It was a "Terrific Tuesday" as PHX topped out for a high of 81F, just 1F shy of the record (82F)...we have one more day of Spring-like weather and a sunny day ahead today before the storm begins rolling in Thu pm.  Looking forward to a "Wonderful Wednesday" and soaking up that Vitamin D!

3rd day in a row PHX hit a delightful 81F!  High clouds moving in out ahead of the big storm.  Should be raining heavily here as the line of heavy rain moves in around 8pm.  Big snows for the ski resorts.

Start and end of month was a dud- but the middle was DOWN RIGHT legendary!!!

January 2024 featured back-to-back snowstorms for Iowa, which made up a majority of the snowfall for the month.
For Des Moines and Waterloo, that means placing in the top 5 for both the snowiest January and snowiest month of any month! 😲
📌Des Moines
❄️27.2" of snow - 2nd snowiest January (#1 1886 with 37.0")
❄️January 2024 5th snowiest month of any month on record
📌Waterloo
❄️25.1" of snow - snowiest January
❄️January 2024 4th snowiest month of any month on record

That has to put mby as one of the snowiest Januarys  in Iowa history?  Or at least the 11 days  from Jan 8th to the 19th. During  those 11 days I measured 38.2" snowfall on my snow boards. Ive had the opportunity  to review all the cocorahs  and do some  driving around most of Iowa east of i35 and south  of cedar rapids.   Ottumwa  to north of Fairfield  was the true bullseye  both on the models and recorded snowfall.
