Arguably that would be "mixing out" the shallow inversion. But I see your point in that it's more of two separate airmasses advecting over the same spot. That's pretty much what I was getting at last night, though in the case of the Meadowbrook Valley it truly is being mixed away because it's roughly 100' deep and a mile long. With even the slightest fog push the entire mass of the inversion is easily scoured away and fully mixed into the surrounding less de-coupled airmass.
