Most worthy events have a flip/flops.  The GFS pattern of blocking run after run after run is encouraging...but not something we've never seen before, 75% of the time they bust (that stat is statistically sound FYI...lol...not).  PacNW weather is a rollercoaster...that's why we love it.  The snow and cold will get here eventually - enjoy the ride (and the whiskey).  Good night y'all!

Dropped back to 32 after briefly reaching 33 here. The cold has really hung on with the light east breeze.

Yeah I don't think anyone said it was bad, just not epic.

Weird.

Well, you both constantly complain about warmth and overheating, view the world in black and white, and insult me on a regular basis.

Bad joke but still has some merit.

Ka-bam!

Someone's feisty tonight. Why don't you tell us how full of the Euro was compared to the GFS? :)

Which one do you think is more full of s**t?

Just measured the best we could... 19-20 inches on the ground on average. And its snowing hard... 28 degrees with a good east wind still blowing.

Wow. This reminds me of some of the situations you would have back in 2007-12. It just keeps finding ways to snow there.

I was just talking to my neighbor about that while shoveling... he said the same thing.

Mind sharing some of that?

Really this is the most prolific snow producing scenario here... cold air supply to the east with copious moisture streaming in from the southwest which would just result in another very rainy day otherwise.

C-zones are second behind this set-up.

Regardless of how much rain you may get tomorrow, you're still going to have a solid snowpack for a long time. Rest of the month if models are to be believed.

35 degree rain really does not melt snow very fast.   I doubt it gets to 40 this weekend here.

The worst case scenario is a situation like early December 2007 when we got 24 inches of snow in one day and then had 57 degrees with a 30mph SW wind the next day.    That was amazing (and sad) to watch how quickly it vanished.    The wind just ate the snow at a rapid pace.   It did not turn to water... it just disappeared.

Better than watching it disappear in 57 degree rain though. I once left for Chicago with 12" on the ground (my aunt sent pictures as I was leaving for the airport.) It literally all disappeared before my flight got there with thunderstorms and temperatures in the low 60's.

It's amazing how rarely I've seen significant snow melt in the sun around here though. Late February 2014 in Bellingham was the only time I can think of. We got over a foot and it slowly melted as temperatures soared into the 50's a few days later with sunny skies. It was nice. It didn't even seem to melt like you said. Just disappeared.
