Pn1ct0g3n
The Pacific is fighting back: low clouds have started to build and the onshore breeze is strengthening. Even some fog as the cooler ocean air slams into the hot, sticky air over the land. Sometimes I saw this in 2015 when the sea breeze returned during a particularly hot day. Anti Marine Layer
Nice breeze here today. However looks like dewpoints were up to 72 at some beaches this afternoon.
Omegaraptor
Looks like Death Valley may have just achieved the first verifiably legitimate 130°F reading ever recorded.

Pn1ct0g3n
Welcome back Eujunga! I’m new to posting but I’ve lurked for a while. Yeah, that Death Valley reading is seriously impressive, especially for how late in the season it occurred.

Pn1ct0g3n
SSTs finally starting to creep up some, though a far cry from the surfer’s dream we’ve had the last several summers.
Reg
Better than the nonsoon we have had up to the middle of last week. A lot more interesting.I've been going through a lot more clothes over the last few days because I keep drenching them in sweat every few hours, even at night. At least you have the nice cool beach only a few minutes away, over here we're stuck with 100F+ for six days now.
Anti Marine Layer
Looks like tomorrow will be another hot one with less of an eddy influence. Even places like LAX with fog nearby have been reaching the upper 70s. A week ago they were having a hard time making it into the upper 60s. Pn1ct0g3n
Heavy fog again at daybreak, gone by 8am over me but still hanging around over the ocean. And it’s already a sticky one, with plenty of upper 60s for dewpoints throughout the coastal areas.

Anti Marine Layer
108 now for Fullerton. Looks like beaches might have a few low clouds, but even the marine layer's cooling effect has been affected by our heat wave.
Anti Marine Layer
It's starting to cool down a bit. 94 now. Must be the result of thunderstorms further inland.
Pn1ct0g3n
No low clouds here. Even the PV area remained fog-free after mid morning, but around half an hour ago a really strong southerly breeze kicked in. Knocked us from 84 to 76 in short order. The Pacific doesn’t go quietly. TT-SEA
Reminds me of 2015 Actually its more like 2008 in CA. Even your dream summers are smoky somewhere in the West. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_California_wildfires The 2008 California wildfire season was one of the most devastating since the turn of the 21st Century. While only 4,923 fires occurred,[3] about half as many as in 2007, the total area burned far exceeded that of previous years.[1] Throughout the year, 1,593,690 acres (6,449.4 km2) of land were burned.[4] Quote **REPORTED CONDITIONS AND ANOMALIES ARE NOT MEANT TO IMPLY ANYTHING ON A REGIONAL LEVEL UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED**

Pn1ct0g3n
Yikes! It’s a little tricky to see with all the smoke but there’s an unusual low cloud distribution today. North end of the Santa Monica Bay (offshore and into Malibu area) has marine gunk encroaching, while all of PV up through around LAX is clear as crystal. Usually it’s the reverse.
