Tom
Lake Michigan water temp is a balmy 39F near the Chicago shoreline. Some upper 40's temps showing up near the south shores. I highly doubt anyone will be entering the water at the beaches this Memorial Day Weekend...unless of course they are drunk. Boating season in Chicago is having a slow start.

Tom
I was using a different site and it had a cooler pool of water near the Chicago shoreline. There seems to be a discrepancy. Upper 40'/low 50's water temp seems about average, but still very chilly to take a dip. I remember last year MDW they were in the low 60's. Tom
So I hear its a pretty miserable day in Chicago...44F and rain/gloomy, tomorrow looks nasty as well. 00z Euro has temps in upper 40's, March like temps in May. The July like temps earlier last week were quite the tease I'd imagine. At least the Hawks are in the Conference Finals! 4 times out of the last 6 years is very impressive....Let's Go Hawks!!!! I think I'd rather root for the LA Kings to win tomorrow so that the Hawks have Home Ice advantage. Anyway you look at it, Ducks or Kings, it will be a tough team to play against. Tom
ORD or MDW probably won't get any measurable snow, but a lot of N/NW suburbs reported between 0.2 - 0.7 inches of snow. The latest measurable snow on record is May 11, 1966 when 0.2 fell. I dunno about you, but this is as close as breaking a record for latest measurable snowfall. Speaking of cooler weather, CPC has chilled their summer forecast for the region. June also continues the same below normal pattern. The year without a real summer still in the cards. Last week was probably the only REAL Spring like week since March in our region. Next week is looking better.

Tom
Euro nailed today's forecast. I doubt ORD gets out of the upper 40's today. This system is a slow mover and cloud deck looks very thick. Still 39F at ORD. Edit: Planning on getting back home after MDW. I sure hope these 40's are a distant memory when I get back.

Tom
Indeed James, overnight at NWS Davenport, IA the 3rd coldest air temp was recorded in North America at 500mb...-30C!!! Are you kidding me??? Goes to show you that the pattern we are in is still repeating. Proof in the pudding for all those who seem to doubt it. How many times this past Winter/Spring we saw those kind of temps at 500mb??? Just mind boggling.
