Currently dawn and there are some mean-looking clouds to the east of here. Also quite humid at the moment with the temperature failing to drop below 72F overnight.

Had some super heavy rain and thunderstorms yesterday. I return to California tomorrow.

The only above-average temperature spell of the entire year so far has occurred over the past three weeks here.

My new window air conditioner was installed yesterday so now the rest of the summer should be at least somewhat tolerable.

Marine layer?? There has been monsoon moisture the last couple of days, but no marine layer to speak of, except possibly along and near the coast. There weren't any low clouds here in Orange yesterday morning even as early as 9 am.

Yes, but it was a muggy marine layer.

It's 54 F in Santa Maria. Bone dry dewpoints compared to Florida there.

Left work an hour ago to find it raining and extremely humid. Dry only a couple of blocks away.

Yes, a cold marine layer (dewpoints in the mid 50s) feels much less tropical.
