80 F still reached for Fullerton Airport today, but tomorrow they may not make it there with an even deeper marine layer.

Nice start to a new month w/ stratus well into the valleys this morning and more of the same tomorrow. SST are warm [upper 60's-mid 70's] but cooler than they have been for several months.

Beach was sunny this afternoon, despite the deep marine layer.

 

Corona Del Mar was mobbed.

1 year ago on the Sunday during the Labor Day Weekend, very rare pop up thunderstorms ended a brutally hot heat wave with temperatures up in the 100's for 3 days in a row. Dew points during and after the storm shot up into the low to mid 70's which is unheard of in the Central Coast.

I haven't been closely watching minimums for San Diego but assume that lows have been in the 70's for several months w/ a few exceptions.

San Diego beaches having trouble clearing. Fullerton Airport still reached 80 F today and each of the past 2 days.

Under more normal conditions [sST] maximums & minimums would have been cooler during these strong onshore marine events.

Stratus rushed inland and reached my area [about 18 miles from Pacific] slightly before sunset last night like a warm/ humid blanket.

It was cool and miserably damp this morning and then it got warm and humid. Then it got cloudy again with a comfortable temperature.

 

Fullerton continues the 80 F or above streak.

Marine layer again missing most of the Inland Empire, but that does not mean much, as it looked shallower yesterday morning and it was the least clearing yet. The Maytember weather looks to go away for a few days before another big trough. Probably means nothing for our rainfall this upcoming winter.

Staying cool despite forecast warming. Septembers for the past 2 years have been cooler than average after hot summer months. The 24-yr September averages [87/ 65] are fairly hot anyway.

Weak offshore flow can happen in September with high heat but little in the way of wind. October is when the Santa Ana winds usually start to blow.

The fog burned off before sunrise today and its cooler this morning compared to the last couple of weeks

Above the inversion it remained clear w/ light offshore wind overnight. 50+ mile visibility this morning.

Despite the hot weather, it's still more like June than September, but usually the first offshore events come after the Fall Equinox.
