Nice day today with plenty of sunshine and highs just a few degrees below normal. However, we return to Mayuary tomorrow. Believe it or not, weatherwest says it's the polar vortex causing this anomalous May weather. Might not quite be so anomalous in a few years if climate change is what they really say it is.

In 2010, Lindbergh Field saw the record for coldest July average high temperature go with one fell blow. The 69.39 average high for 2010 broke the cool record of 71.58 in 1987.

However the WRCC data for that station starts in 1939.

Extra credit if you can name the movie that the first sentence in this post was inspired by.

I give up, which movie?

Also sprinkling here, big fat rain drops. Quite windy as well.

Looks like the last Gulf of Alaska storm is Tuesday-Wednesday. Forecast high of 73 F in Phoenix on Wednesday. Global warming is not all warming every place everywhere all the time. Sad thing.

End of the week looks like a more traditional southwest flow May Gray pattern with deserts warming up, so at least a hint of spring even if it's 2 months late this year.

Forecast discussion talked about May Spray instead of May Gray.

Reverse clearing evident on GOES-17 with clearing on the coast except in the island banding effect and cumulus cover interior areas. The may spray is continuing with unusual precipitation and well mixed out marine layer is any thing but may gray.

Nice day today by the afternoon with absolutely no smog or haze to speak of. Despite hours of intense May sunshine, some areas such as Downtown L.A. still fell below the 70 F mark for the high. Fullerton reached 72 F, which was a few degrees warmer than forecast and only 5 degrees short of the Phoenix high of 77 F.

High of 64 F in Temecula today. Reg1992, you must have enjoyed the overcast breezy weather.

Not too bad near the coast today with plenty of sunshine and highs a few degrees below 70 most areas. Better than solid May Gray all day.

I did. Today felt like a winter day, it was nice.

Some sprinkles out there right now but not enough to wet the ground.
