Another record bites the dust...ORD hit 92F, beating the old record of 91F...tomorrow we may tie another record at 90F...if we are able to do so, we would have spent an entire week (7 days) tying or breaking a record high for the day. Just incredible.

Amazing the difference one storm measured in inches can make vs a batch of lesser amounts. I could not find one brown lawn anywhere in Marshall this evening. Doubly impressive with the non-stop sunny and HOT conditions of the past 5 days.

A surprise cell popped up this evening and dropped 0.61" of rain here, my heaviest rain event in over two months.  It's great to hear and smell rain again.  :D

The extended looks warm (above average temps) right after this brief cool-down later this week. October will most certainly start off on a warm note.

Well it now looks like Grand Rapids set a new record high once again with a high of 91° at the airport.  Here at my house I also had a high of 91° but today we had a lot of high clouds and was not sure if GRR was able to get over 90° but it looks like it did.  With the much lower DP’s in the 50’s today it did not feel too bad on my walk in fact it almost felt comfortable.

Today's sunrise at 6:42am and sunset at 6:40pm, marks the first day we have less than 12 hours of daylight.  The current temp of 72F is a degree shy of the normal high 73F.  Thankfully, today is the last day of this long-lasting, record setting, history making, headache of a ...September torch!  Supposed to hit a high of 90F today and tie the old record.

We have logged just as many 90's as we did back in June and will probably add another one today!

Yesterday broke another record 96.2F was the official high temp. Old record was 92F set back in 1900. The beat goes on. Shooting for another record high today as temps soar once again into the 90s. Holy Crap!

K, it's official. I'm about bored to "______" (insert word of choice) with months and months of wx blandness. This current stretch is just "turning the knife", lol.

Lets get that darn Hurricane outta here already, so that we can have weather systems moving faster. These hurricanes have been slowing down everything.

This from NOAA:

Seasonably strong upper level wave/trough coming out of the Gulf of
Alaska will encompass the Great Lakes Region on Friday, but remain
progressive, with the trough axis moving off the East coast by 00z
Sunday already, per 00z Euro. Upper level northwest confluent flow
over the weekend will lead to dry conditions as the large area of
high pressure is slow to slide eastward. If the center of the high
remains parked over over the Central Great Lakes Saturday Night,
could see min temperatures dip into the upper 30s across the normally
colder spots.
Fog could turn out to be an issue as well. With the
chilly airmass and limited mixing depths, looking at daytime temps
holding in the 60s. Forecast is mostly sunny for the weekend, but
always have to be leary of good diurnal CU up.

Building heights and increasing southwest flow early next week will
support another significant warm up, with 80 degrees not out of the
question by the time we get to Tuesday,
but still big differences in
the position of the strong upper level ridge, based off the 00Z
Euro/GFS/Canadian solutions.

Per NOAA, another warm-up next week....UGH!!

Warm up next week here is likely, but at least this time it's seasonably warm, with highs in the mid-upper 70s and lows in the mid-50s. This front was a season changer that's for sure!

Yup, but not only that, DP's will be manageable.  The typical Yo-Yo pattern of Autumn shall continue!

With next weeks warm-up, temps will be running still above normal. My area stands a chance of seeing 80s, only this time the 90s will no longer be in the forecast. Thank goodness!

With the high here in Grand Rapids of 92° that sets a new record for September 26th this is the 6 day in a row of record setting highs. That make this the longest string of record highs since 1936. And this years heat wave ties 1934 for second place in the number of days in a row with record highs. Talk about history in the making.
