stuffradio
This super volcano would have a bigger impact than Agung or the other volcano that's threatening to erupt. Some say this volcano could cause a 0.5C drop in worldwide temperatures if it did erupt.

wx_statman
Where is this volcano and is there a reason to believe it will erupt soonish? It's near Naples Italy and had a massive eruption about 40k years ago. Probably VEI-7 so on the level of Tambora. From what I've read, even if Campi Flegrei (i on the end, not L by the way) does erupt soon, it will be a minor eruption similar to one the mountain produced in the 16th century.
Andie
This would be a very Big Bang. I can't recall the number of millions of people in the Naples Bay Area but it's so congested. If they had a significant eruption, the entire Mediterranean and Middle East would be heavily affected. I don't know how much the atmosphere would be impacted. Has anyone seen any recent information on that ?
