Say that when you’ve stood over a cousin in his grave as I did, dead through illegals committing crimes on both sides off the border.  Go ahead and talk how smart you are on the reality of it all.
Statistics be damned at that point, despite the fact I’m married to a Hispanic family.  You folks aren’t steeped in the reality of it all everyday.  They're quite critical of this whole situation.  But don’t mind those living with it.  Go on.

What happened to your cousin was terrible, but it is still an anecdote and not data.

“Statistics be damned” summarizes a lot of US politics, alas.

I'm not sure if a Republican will finally win Minnesota, but holy sh!t, the DFL party here is trying so hard to make that happen by suddenly pretending we're even farther left than California.

Add "proposing a bill to prosecute people as juveniles until 21" to the list, which includes "making a ceasefire in Gaza the NUMBER ONE TOPIC in city council meetings", "becoming a sanctuary state", "virtue signaling gun legislation to ban things that are already banned", "puberty blockers at 12 years old without parental consent", and "defunding the police".

If the nominee weren't Trump (thanks again, MAGAs!), I'd be 100% sure we'd see a Republican victory in Minnesota come November with the DFL party failing to stay in their lane here. I love many things about Minnesota, but the politics here are an absolute joke.

He almost won in 2016, polls shown it will be a tight race.

If it passes the Senate, if Biden signs it, and if TikTok were to actually be banned, I can't imagine it's going to help Biden with young voters.  Yeah, lots of ifs.  It will be Congress and Biden's doing, but still.

Misspelled her name and smiling.

Nice.

What did you guys say earlier about that?

At least he spelled it phonetically. Splitting hairs, it's the thought that counts. Biden couldn't even say her name correctly because he can't care enough to be bothered to care about an American. He has to go on television and grovel to a murderous illegal immigrant.

The thought to take the murder of a girl as a chance to have a photo-op where you are smiling and acting like you just gave your autograph to a fan? The thought to write "I love you" to someone who you can't even spell their name right? Are those the thoughts that count?

That picture is a great illustration of what's wrong with typical politicians. They try to take advantage of a horrible situation to make themselves look better only to look even more cringe worthy than if they had just left it alone. For all the desire to continue painting Trump as an "outsider" and "not a politician", it's becoming clear that couldn't be further from the truth.

I think you are reading way too much into this. A person can definitely send love to the dearly departed. He's met her family, he's heard the tragic tale of how her beautiful American life ended. I'm sure he has love for the family and compassion as another human being. It's sad all of you are filled with too much Trump derangement to see this. It's going to be rough five years for you. Future looks bright.

Presidents past and Present have always drawn attention to the innocents of tragedies, be they 1 person or hundreds.  If they do nothing they’re callous. It’s a no win situation.

Because sanctions on a place like Iran only hurts the civilians.  Their economy is in the toilet.  Most regular people in Iran are no different than Americans.  They want what we want.  Remember all the protests a short while ago that were brutally crushed?  Many want to be democratic and have self determination.  We gotta play our cards right and not just punish them all due to the actions of their government.

We are also a big part of why they have religious nutjobs in power in the first place.  They remember that detail.

Good points. I recall during the Vietnam War that certain things that could go into repaid if tanks or planes were stopped while the US didn’t stop all food items because of civilians.   China was supplying enough as it was to the Red Army.  Talk about a crazy war.  Pres Johnson was Pres Looneytoons, not to mention his “advisors”.  I recall him telling them, “ I’ll give you your g-d war.”
What a piece of work.  The Joint Chiefs loved him.
Talk about a crazy war!  Not to mention Air America.  Just nuts.

Yes but....this was nothing but a photo-op for him, and autographing that poster of her?  It's just....strange.  Not to mention, it was one person, which is no doubt a tragedy for the families, but Trump showing up with them is nothing but political pandering.  He really didn't need to do anything at all, and nobody would have thought anything of it.

My nephew was a victim of a "mass shooting."  He, along with 4 other kids in their late teens to early 20's were shot and killed, then their house torched by a "friend" who had been asked to leave because he was picking a lot of fights and causing a lot of problems with the group.  So he left, came back and killed them.  The M-F'er even shot their dogs.  It made the national news for a news cycle, and of course dominated the regional news headlines for a long time.

There were no Presidents, Governors, Senators or Representatives at the funerals.   And that suited me just fine.  We might have gotten some flowers from the state representative for the area, but I can't remember for certain.

The family of one of the victims is very prominent in the area.  Heck, my nephew (his dad was my half brother) came from a very prominent family.

All of our Presidents, certainly in our lifetimes, have had to deal with mass tragedy.  The most common response is at a minimum a private meeting with the family, and if there are any pictures (though I don't think there ever was), they are candid and from a distance.  The President may also do a public speech on the tragedy.  I've never felt that they (Democrat or Republican) were doing it for their own personal gain, until this little stunt.

I’m very sorry for your loss. That’s most important here.
Taking advantage of tragedies for talking points is tasteless, always has been. It seems to be an unpleasant symptom of political ambition.
We were lucky.  It wasn’t election time and slipped away from political leeches.
If the family agrees to go public it’s different, but most families are so devastated they just want to be left alone.  We avoided that added weight.

States should have their own rights regarding porn and the like.
Communities are allowed to be individual.
People can determine where they want to live and raise their families or run their businesses.
No problemo.

Having grown up on the edge of the Fort Worth Stock Yards where it was rough and ready, I can testify to not raising your kids around porn and such.

All I had were real cowboys, cattlemen, and the bars and dancehalls.  Some places were far worse.  Fort Worth kept it to a minimum. Call girls and drugs were mostly on the other side of town.  We got the drunks and dancehalls. The call girls were there but not as numerous ( or seen) and further west of us.
Fort Worth WAS a cowtown after all. Cowboys will be cowboys.
MAN!  I had quite the childhood.

Biden came out yesterday and said TRANS and Nonbinary FOLX are the bravest of all Americans. You have to question whether this guy really knows what he's saying, or if he's being serious.

New poll out of Florida yesterday showing Trump with a 6% lead.

The polls out of Ohio have been absolutely devastating for Biden. Trump leading by 10-12%. Sherrod Brown leads in many polls, but he's polling in the 38-42% range as an incumbent, he's toast.

As far as presidential elections, Ohio is gone from the Democrats for the forseeable future.  Wouldn't really call it a swing state anymore.

Similar thing with Florida, though to a lesser extent.  Real uphill battle for a Dem to win there nowadays.  Would probably need a wave election where somebody just wins convincingly nationwide, like Obama in 2008.  I mean, Obama even won Indiana that year and nearly won Missouri, which is almost unthinkable as those states tend to go Republican in presidential elections by like 15-20%

Agree.  Georgia and AZ are the new swing states.
