CFB committee in shambles lol.

1. Michigan
2. UW
3. FSU
4. Texas

3 and 4 might be interchangeable, though I'd prefer FSU to be at #3. And Huskies will need to wear down that FSU defense fast if they play together.

Texas should be at #4 with their H2H tiebreaker against Bama, will be the first SEC-less playoffs ever. But the committee loves the SEC, we'll see tomorrow.

Also the very first time a team ranked at #1 in the penultimate rankings (Georgia), that will now likely miss the playoffs entirely in the final rankings 😬

I can see why, as a husky fan, you want the best conference shut out.

A 12-1 Texas team with the Big12 championship > 12-1 Bama team with the SEC championship, because of the head to head tiebreaker the Longhorns have over them.

Florida State should get in because an undefeated 13-0 Power Five team in the ACC who just won their championship deserves to get in regardless. But FSU is a very weird case right now because of their QB situation.

It won't surprise me if the committee sneaks in Alabama at #4 (who are better than FSU obviously), but there is going to be massive uproar. If that happens, I'll enjoy the chaos at least.

I don’t think this is that hard. FSU is clearly out. It sucks that their QB got hurt and their conference sucks this year but that’s life, the whole point of the committee is to keep teams like them out. Then the head to head results make it easy to slot everyone else.

Washington plays Texas.

Alabama plays Michigan.

Too late... Andrew said FSU is in already.    And your #3 Texas is out.

I have no idea but we only have 12 hours to wait.   Also worth mentioning... the Huskies strength of schedule is better than Michigan.  And both are 13-0 conference champions.

ESPN playoff predictor has Michigan, Washington, FSU, Texas.

That would be the best possible situation for the Huskies too.   We will find out shortly.

Starts at 9 a.m. but no idea how long it takes to get through the 4 teams.   The selection show on ESPN is 4 hours long and then the reaction show starts at 1 p.m.

Thanks! I was searching around directv and saw they are also airing it on ESPNU which is the only ESPN channel I get so I’m watching it now. Will be switching between this and Russ vs Texans.

Sort of sucks that the Huskies game is in New Orleans and not at the Rose Bowl.    But that also means it's indoors.    Being a Nino year there is at least the possibility of rainy conditions in L.A. in early January.    I wouldn't want weather like the Oregon State game again.

Another advantage of not putting FSU at #4 is that Michigan won't have a cake walk in the first round.   They will have their hands full with Alabama.     So if the Huskies can beat Texas its not a given that Michigan is next.    And if FSU was slotted at #3 like Andrew had predicted then everyone would dismiss a Huskies win in the first round.   Huskies will have to earn it if the make it to the championship game.   And beating Oregon twice definitely prepares the Huskies for Texas and then Michigan or Alabama.   I think Oregon could beat any of the other 3 teams and we beat Oregon twice.

I just held my nose and watched the ESPN broadcast for the past hour.  They barely talked about Washington at all compared to the other three teams.  Coach Deboer was interviewed for about 4 minutes compared to over 10 for the other three coaches.  The discussions were little more than nuanced dribble but it was obvious that the UW, regardless of their #2 ranking is not worthy of equal consideration for some reason.

I just re-watched and the interview with Sark was just about the same length as the interview with DeBoer.    I also thought the questions were similar.   You might be trying to manufacture disrespect... hopefully the team can do that as well.  😁

Haha I guess you are right if you measured the response.  Coach Harbaugh had to be longer I think.  They did not spend as much time on the Huskies though overall.  I will try to be less biased in my future comments. I don't see where I was trying to manufacture disrespect though.  Disrespect for ESPN?  They are the CNN of the sports world.  You gotta respect that.

I think Herbstreit is in love with the Huskies.   And has been since College Game Day in Seattle back in October.   I don't get a sense of the Huskies being dismissed on ESPN... but obviously that is quite subjective.

Yeah, normally I do sense a good bit of respect for the Huskies from the individual commentors and especially Herbstreit.  This particular broadcast just seemed to slight the Huskies but on to more important things.

Everyone dismisses Washington teams. Washington is in west Canada, and everyone (especially east coast) doesn’t care about west Canada.

Oregon will play Liberty. Best matchup we could have gotten. The pac-12 title game loser is 0-11 all time in bowl games. This was our best chance to run that to 1-11. With Nix likely not playing in the bowl game, I was dreading a matchup with Ohio State. On the other hand losing to Liberty would be embarrassing...

Man do I feel bad for FSU. They should be in there. Bama barely beat Auburn. A team is not just their QB and there is a reason they play games. Oregon was favored by 9 or 10 in both games and lost twice, so no guarantees that folks who "know" actually KNOW. FSU deserves to get to play.

It's all about the $$$ and no, the SEC should not be guaranteed one of the spots. This was not as strong of a year for the SEC.

FSU still won out with a third string, freshman QB.  If that doesn't show that their TEAM is strong, well, why do we play games?

Also, the tweet from their injured QB was heartbreaking.

I'm sure he won't play since it is against Liberty. Good chance for some of the young guys to get experience, as well as see if we need to hit the portal for a QB or if Thompson can be the guy. This is going to be like the Super Bowl for Liberty so you know they are going to BRING IT. Should be an exciting game. I'll be honest, I did not want to play Ohio State, but Penn State would have been a fun opponent.
