Grizzcoat
If one looks closer at the ob from GRI-- it seems the wind knocked out the wind sensor and the sky condition sensor on ASOS Quote The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang. CentralNebWeather
Sounds like lots of damage in grand island. Law enforcement says stay home due to downed power lines and trees. Getting information from twitter feeds in central Nebraska. Be prepared nejeremy, hopefully it will diminish in strength before moving to your area. Grizzcoat
based on the extreme wind and heavy snow in the Dakotas -- the snow drifts have to be massive in certain locales--- on the order of 10-15'. A storm that Dakotains will be talking about for some time and that ranks right up there with the all time greats... Though most reading didn't see the extremes --- this storm is certainly one to remember for weather geeks. 1 Quote The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang. They made a film about that young fam that had a similar experience back in (idk?) 1990 crossing some remote regions of N Nevada mountains. In that story, the husband hiked while momma and baby hid in a cave and fought off Cougars and such. Iirc, that bliz already was hitting when they got to her and the baby via a Snowcat. Those folks did suffer a lot of frost-bite though. Thx for sharing!
