July 2018 Weather in the Pacific Northwest

Recommended Posts

I am so tired of cold, cloudy, and wet weather right now... I might even cheer for 95-degree heat at this point.

58 and pouring rain here currently.

He just gets pissy when the models look warm... it will pass. ;)

Ironic for you to say that about anyone.

If people here complained about heat 1/10th of what you do about rain, Dewey would quickly develop carpal tunnel typing up all of the posts mocking them.

I am not specifically complaining about rain.   I don't mind summer rain.

Its the days and days of dark weather and cold temps that go with the short periods of rain that is the problem around here.

Portland scratching at the door of 100 degrees by day 9 per the 12Z ECMWF.

We have seen this before... it won't happen.

It spiked the Jesse Vitriol Index (VINDiesel) which gives it a bit more weight.

Careful...

It is a fairly cloudy day here in Salem and there was some light drizzle at home this morning. I've had about all I can take of this mother ******* climate!

Just ended... those were some robust showers in reality.   It was absolutely dumping rain here for about 15 minutes.

Woke up to moderate rain as well.    Sopping wet out there... over an inch of rain since Saturday!

Ended June with 1.68" of rain. Combined May-June rainfall was only 2.20". I thought it might be a record, but it actually wasn't. One of the driest May/June combos for sure, and if you were to take it back to the middle of April it almost is undoubtedly the driest April 15-July 1st on record here.

Given your recent luck I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch. 99% of the PNW has seen lots of sun and dry weather the past 10 days, so perhaps the clouds will continue to find you my friend.

Wow 2.24 here.  Didn't think we would have more than you.  By a whole .02.  Only 9 days since April 15 have had .10 or more here (and most of those were barely a tenth).

Lol. This is what an average summer is supposed to be like in your climate. The last 5 years spoiled you rotten.

June was generally warm and dry in the Willamette Valley. Digging into the numbers, the Central and Northern valley ran about 2-3 degrees above normal. The south valley was very close to normal with quite a few days with early marine pushes down south. This can be seen as PDX had 4 90+ days, and SLE had 3. Eugene on the other hand only hit 90 once, and it was just that, 90.

Precip was about 75% of average in the region.

Recapping June in the Seattle area. Temps were slightly above average. Station of the God's was essentially average, Sea-Tac +1.7 was the warm spot in the region. Most stations were well below average with precip, though there were a couple locations that were near average.

And yet...the vast majority of the region saw well below normal precip over the past couple weeks that you've complained endlessly about. The silent majority.

Parts of SW WA and NW OR are definitely ripe for serious drought and fire concerns this summer.

And I suspect we will probably have 24-26 dry days in July in my area which would be normal based on the average going back to 1895.
