I'm betting things will stay on the dry side. Just too much blocking showing up consistently on the models. The GFS continues to want to put us into a fairly chilly trough with blocking in the area that freezes us in the winter. Troughy certainly doesn't mean wet though in this case.

The blocking this year makes me think my area will have the first drier than normal year since 2013.

Its a blocky year... and my area has been wetter than normal every year since 2013.

 

Might be the year that breaks that streak.

2013 was the driest year on record at Salem. Pretty amazing since September 2013 blew away the previous record for wettest September.

March and April were complete washouts down here, it started drying out at the end of April right when we started moving...thankfully.

I guess the foothills are a pretty wet climate especially in favourable c zone areas. We only had 1 day last March that recorded more than 0.2” of rain.

Looking back since 2013 and comparing actual to normal for my location... it was wetter than normal from March - May in 2013, 2014, 2017, and 2018.    It was drier than normal in 2015 and 2016.   

 

So spring has been wetter than normal 4 of the last 6 years.

I really want foothill rain. Far preferable to Eastern Washington County and its lame microclimate. From what I understand it’s not any more frequent, just heavier. I’ve seen some real hard rain east of Sandy on one of my Mt Hood trips this winter while my house was getting drizzle.

Yep... all foothill areas are exactly the same and have the same weather every month.    Even in different states.

But it was not a dry spring in this area... and likely not in Randy's area either.   Jesse seems offended by that reality.

Don't remember the details... but was that 4/13-14 up here?     North Bend had almost 3 inches of rain on those days.
