K-nights win!!!

31 currently which is the low of the day, with a high of 40. Picked up about 1.25" of wet snow over the last couple of days, which fell in 3 separate periods.

Ugh. I get the same vibe from this post as I do from our non-PNW patrons who frequent here and are being annoying. My wife took our son tonight for his first kraken game ever. Through the first 12 days of the month our mean temp has been 35.3. Pretty brisk!

Historic is on the table if Mother Nature can put it all together in the right way.  Nice to even have a shot at it.

Obviously last year will be out of reach, but we could potentially put up a sub-40 mean on the month. Which is below average, but there have been quite a number of years with sub-40 March means here. In this Century 2023, 2019, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2002. 2020 was 40.2, so suffice to say, March has been a good month this Century. If we stay at 40.2 or lower, then it would mean half our coldest 20 Marches would be from this Century...

51/42 spread so far today. A fairly active day with scattered heavy showers, sunbreaks and even some hail.

42 is the current temp. Still dropping, so will likely see a midnight low.

Polar strat temps have been been really warm since December.  That could well be what saved our butts this winter.

As I've mentioned, we had 33.8" of snow and it was our coldest March on record beating out 1951. We easily beat 1951 with a mean of 36.3, the state park beat 1951 by 0.1F, but was missing several days of data at the beginning of the month, which would have drug the average down to about where mine was. It was a pretty incredible month, we also had a late month blast of snow. We had thunderstorms on three consecutive days including the 24th which was a 34/31 day with 6.7" of snow and an afternoon thunderstorm.

A lot of places had hail today.  Normally it's a more isolated thing than what we saw this time.  I had a good blast of it in the early afternoon. 48/40 here so far today.

The disconnect between the Puget Sound region and OR last March was ridiculous.  It was totally boring here other than a decent number of chilly mins.

Last April would have easily been a top 10 maybe even top 5 cold April if not for the horrific torch the last week of the month. Our luck pretty much just ran out. Ended up 15th coldest, not bad. 2022 was our 5th coldest April.

Just realized we’ve had sticking snow here in March every year from 2017 on… except for 2022. April made up for it though.

Took a jaunt out to the central Gorge this afternoon. It was chilly and breezy, temps in the 40s with rain showers at times. The grass widows are now in bloom, they are the first batch of wildflowers that bloom in the central and eastern Gorge, and are a regional harbinger of spring.
