OKwx2k4 4167
I hadn't taken the time to scroll through these yet this year. Mostly out of heart brokenness for the crappy winter I just exited. Those are truly awesome pictures and I'm sure a stretch of days you won't forget soon. Aside from a perfect, clear, colorful and crisp autumn, which happens only every few years here, snow and ice are 2 of the most beautiful things one can see, in my opinion. Maybe this will finally be the winter I get to share some awesomeness with the rest of the forum. Haven't had real winter since I joined on 10-05-15. Almost 4 years...

Don’t ask me why but it’s the only way I can get the pics to not post upside down.

I've taken many pictures over the last 4 years (they're lost now, of course) that I'd love to share with my friends here, but it's just embarrassing. Lol. I appreciate finally getting an answer. This fall and winter should be pretty awesome so I hope to get to try it out soon.

Phil 11723
After a number of rough wind events during the first week of March, this guy wire bracket on my anemometer pole had had enough and gave way. The steel bracket literally warped and ruptured, sending the guy wire recoiling through the air, snapping off from the fastened base bracket and launching into the trees. It’s a heavy pole, but I didn’t know the microswaying could put this much tension on an individual bracket. Will definitely have to rethink this. 1 Quote Personal Weather Station: NOAA: https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/timeseries.php?sid=F3819&num=168&banner=NONE Wunderground: https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMDBETHE62/graph/2019-08-23/2019-08-23/daily
Phil 11723
Huge storm today. Blast of wind snapped branches and threw tree debris hundreds of feet in the air. A few MoCo MESONET stations recorded winds to ~ 70mph. Caught some pictures of the first two gusts. Can see some debris aloft and breaking branches in the canopy. Mercurial 63
Some photos from here in Aomori, Japan this winter. This has been a milder-than-average winter for Aomori, but we've still had some great storms. The climate here is by far the best I've ever experienced, and I used to live in various snow belt regions in Montana (moving back there later this year probably). 3
