It wouldn’t surprise me if it ends up being more westerly as opposed to northwesterly flow in that case, though. A failed retrograde is probably a very flat pattern.

That’s what I’m feeling might happen. Actually feels like it’s been awhile since we’ve had cold onshore flow during the heart of winter.

Dang I was hoping we would continue the hope we had with 12z runs, or build momentum towards a pattern change, but 00z runs stomped on that idea. At least we seem to manage a ridge, dry weather, fake cold, and east winds. Better than progressive mild slop day after day.

Last maps for the night... EPS coming in with a nice improvement for the NYE system. Jumped from 1.1 inches on the 12z to almost three inches on the 00z. Also a decent increase for the 1/5 system with a slight shift northward. Not sure about everyone else, but this should end up being the snowiest EPS run of the season (so far) for my area... Over 6 inches on the mean through day 12. Score!
