Happy New Year! Most morning models have me riding the line in the upcoming storm with my county being bisected between 2-3 inches in the SW and nothing in the NE. Sounds like a great recipe for disappointment. Another system that looked great in the medium range but falls apart for FSD as it gets closer. I can't wait for a real pattern change with systems coming out from the SW, kicking off CO lows. That setup is much more favorable for snow here, rather than these clipper type systems that from what I've seen usually under-perform across the Northern Plains. There are hints of that pattern coming with the MJO moving through phase 1 and into phase 2, which looks much better at 500mb in a negative ENSO background state than the NW flow crap we've been dealing with seemingly all season. Love the SE ridge signal to help drive storms up to the Midwest. The NE has had their share already. It'd be nice to spread the snowy weather to the Central CONUS.
